Dear friends,

Of the approximately 45,000 participants in this Sunday’s Chicago Marathon only a few will run the entire race. Most will combine running with jogging and walking. Hundreds of thousands more will watch. Yet, all will have a story to tell. Indeed, if you google “Marathon stories” you will find more than you will be able to read. It seems that the experience of something as significant as the marathon compels many to tell their story.

What: Flag Football - Second Saturday Fellowship
When: Saturday, October 13, 2012, 9am - 1pm
Where: Yeo Home for breakfast and Donovan Park for football

Football is in full swing and the weather is getting cooler. Think you got what it takes to complete a Hail Mary? Wanna show off your touchdown dance? Then come over to the Yeo home for some breakfast and we'll head out to the park across the street afterwards for some flag football.

Dear friends,

The media certainly had fun with the Christian faith this week. Just about every major newspaper and network headlined: “Did Jesus Have a Wife?”, “Was Jesus Married?”, or some similar sensational claim. Although the headlines were sensational, the whole thing is rather silly. Consider the following.

Dear friends,

It’s Labor Day weekend. Summer is officially at its end. For children, Labor Day means the start of school. For most adults it means a long weekend. According to the US Government, Labor Day “celebrates the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of America.”1 The Library of Congress informs us that Labor Day “emerged from the ranks of organized labor at a time when they wanted to demonstrate the strength of their burgeoning movement and inspire improvements in their working conditions.” 2 Political spin.
