Dear friends,

Gravestones are a way of marking our passing through life. They are also a way we can say to others what was important to us. When I was a boy walking through a famous cemetery in Buffalo was a common weekend activity, at least it was something my older relatives enjoyed. I thought it was creepy. I have to admit that the gently rolling terrain and huge trees were beautiful and did make for a relaxing walk. I remember many markers from the 1800’s that were carved stone tree stumps. I never figured out why a person would want a tree stump over their grave.

Enjoy an evening of fun with friends at a "movie in the park", a beloved Chicago tradition. Co-sponsored by Cornerstone Community Church and the Chicago Park District, Despicable Me will be shown on Saturday August 18, 2012 at Cotton Tail Park, a beautiful neighborhood park in the heart of the South Loop. The movie starts at dusk. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket, but come early because it can get crowded. Free popcorn for all!
